Denomination:
Elkton United Methodist Church is part of the global United Methodist denomination.  The structure of our denomination encourages close ties between pastors and lay people.  United Methodists follow the Book of Discipline as a common guide for ministry that embraces a broad spectrum of theological viewpoints.  Together, we of the United Methodist church strives to make disciples of Jesus Christ and to put our discipleship into action and transform the world.

Annual Conference:


The denomination is broken down into the administrative sectors called Annual Conferences.  These are led by the Bishop and the Bishop’s cabinet that includes the District Superintendents and other important advisers.  The Annual Conference provides administrative help to churches, shares communications and curriculum resources, coordinates volunteer efforts, equips pastors and lay people for doing ministry in a diverse and dynamic world, and plants new churches. The Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church is comprised of approximately 800 lay and clergy members representing 81,100 (434 churches) United Methodists from Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
